Is there a crisis of liberal democracy in Europe? Over the last ten years, the dissatisfaction with the functioning of national democratic institutions and for the governance of the European institutions is widespread, giving rise to the surge of populist challengers from the left and the right. The discontent has been intercepted by populist political parties that are transforming the European political landscape and creating growing challenges for liberal and democratic institutions. How irreversible is this transformation?

Is there a crisis of democracy in Europe? We will discuss it on December 16th at 6.30 pm with Political Scientist Hanspeter Kriesi (European University Institute), Maurizio Ferrera and Alberto Martinelli (University of Milan). The Seminar will be moderated by Edoardo Vigna, Corriere della Sera.
